In addition to our small groups, we strongly encourage our faith family to gather with others to fight for truth, fight your sin, and fight for the lost. This is an informal ministry that we expect members to start themselves with others they trust. Start with people who will commit to the process. Two to three people per group works best and when a fourth joins, the group splits. There is no leader. Meet regularly (usually once a week) for an hour and do three things:
1. FIGHT FOR TRUTH.
Discuss the Scriptures you have been reading during the week together.
2. FIGHT YOUR SIN.
Confess your sin to each other. Each person answers each question on the back of this card. Focus on the heart and not just behavior. Your Fight Club must be an environment of honesty, vulnerability, confidentiality, and grace.
Here are suggested questions for accountability:
1. a) How has your anger or fear or anxiety or addiction shown up this week?
b) How does that reveal what you’re trusting in besides God?
c) What truth or promise of the gospel do you need to trust in again?
2. How have you wasted time?
3. Has your giving and generosity reflected faith in God’s promises or a feeling or entitlement? Is your giving radical enough to affect your standard of living?
4. Have you treated others as more significant than yourself? How have you been impatient and irritable? When have you gossiped, blown up, etc.?
5. In light of God’s love towards you, do you need to reconcile with somebody? Are you subconsciously holding a grudge?
6. How have you battled sexual or intimacy temptation? How are you preparing to deal with it next week?
7. How did you see God’s sovereign Spirit rearrange your plans this week? Did you respond in faith?
8. Is anything (school, work, technology, etc.) isolating you from important relationships?
