The Church at Shelby Crossings is a local AFM host sites located here in Calera. If you would like more information about the Angel Food Ministries Organization please visit www.angelfoodministries.org.
Am I eligible to participate?Yes! Absolutely EVERYONE can participate. There are no qualifications, minimums, income restrictions or applications.
Is it Quality food?The food boxes are comprised of restaurant grade meats, frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy products and dry goods that are acquired by Angel Food Ministries from various vendors of high quality name brand foods. There are no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day old breads and no produce that is too ripe.
What can I expect in a typical Signature box?The Signature Box is a medium-sized box of food which consists of 16-18 items, including frozen meats, frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy products, grains and desserts. This Signature box can generally assist in feeding a family of four for about a week. Below is an example of a previous menu for a "Signature Box" of food.

1.5 lb. Boneless Pork Roast 2 lb. IQF Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breast 2 lb. Lasagna with Meat Sauce 1.5 lb. Boneless Chicken Drumsticks 1 lb. Lean Ground Beef 1 lb. Frozen Baby Limas 1 lb. Frozen Green Beans 1 lb. Broccoli Florets 1 lb. Rice 1 lb. Pasta 28 oz. Pasta Sauce 1 lb. Fresh Carrots 4 ct. Large Baking Potatoes 32 oz. 2% Shelf Stable Milk Dozen Eggs Dessert * The Signature box items changes monthly. Please see the link at the top of this page to view this month's menu. Each month's menu will also include several "special" boxes. These specials are different each month. You can order as many signature boxes and specials as you would like.
Can I purchase a box for someone else?Absolutely. Please just note on the order form if someone different from you will be picking up the food on distribution day.
How do I place an order?There are few options for placing your order. They are as follows:
You may leave your order and full payment in the black drop box located in front of our church's building C. All orders and payments must be received by noon on the deadline date listed on the menu. Late orders cannot be accepted.

You may set up an appointment with one of our Angel Food team members to order using food stamps.
2010 Order Due Dates
What methods of payment are accepted?We accept cash, personal checks and money orders.
Credit and debit card orders are accepted if you order online at www.shelbycrossings.com/angelfood.
Food stamps are accepted by appointment only. Please contact us at angelfood@shelbycrossings.com or call our church office at 205-690-8260 to set up an appointment.
Do I need to bring anything with me on food distribution day?Yes, please bring a medium-sized box.
How do I get my food?Angel Food will be distributed once a month at the Church at Shelby Crossings. Food will be distributed from building A.
When do I pick up my food?Angel Food will be distributed once per month from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday (2 weeks after the deadline for ordering).
2010 Distribution Dates
What if I am unable to pick up my food on distribution day?You may arrange for a friend, neighbor or relative to pick up your food. All food must be picked up no later than 10:00 am.
What happens to my food if I don’t pick it up?If you (or the person you’ve chosen) do not pick up your food by the end of distribution, we will attempt to contact you by phone. If we are unable to reach you, or if you still cannot pick up your food, your food will be donated to someone in need. There will be no refunds or credits.
What happens if the truck transporting Angel Food breaks down or is delayed?It is highly unlikely for the Angel Food Ministries truck to be delayed or canceled. The truck drivers are under strict schedules with high penalties for delay. However, in the unlikely event of a delay, we will do everything in our power to contact you regarding a schedule change or delay in distribution.
How can I volunteer for Angel Food Ministries?There are many opportunities to serve in this ministry. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us at angelfood@shelbycrossings.com
Who can volunteer for Angel Food Ministries?Anyone at least 16 years old can volunteer for Angel Food Ministries. This includes members of The Church at Shelby Crossings, people from other churches and people from the community.
How does the Angel Food Ministry help our community?The Angel Food ministry allows us to serve our church family and to serve our community with the love of Christ. Not only will we be providing high quality food for a low price meeting a physical need, we will also have an opportunity to share the truth of God with each person who purchases a box and introduce them to the One who can meet their spiritual needs. |
