Serve Your Church
The Prayer Ministry meets before each service to pray as a group at 8:15am. We pray persistently for the Holy Spirit to be present in our church as we lift our leaders up in prayer. Contact Cathy McDaniel to serve in the prayer ministry.
The Preschool Ministry is in need of at least 15 more volunteers to serve one Sunday each month during adult small group time or worship with our little ones, toddlers thru kindergarten. In addition, disinfecting the toys and thoroughly cleaning the preschool areas are weekly tasks. Our goal of providing a safe, nurturing and happy place for our preschoolers enables their parents and guests to participate in bible study and worship without worrying about the care of their precious children. In addition, our preschool ministry teachers and workers are blessed by being with the littlest ones in our faith family. To volunteer, contact Shellyn Poole.
The Men’s Ministry is to help each man of Shelby Crossings become a passionate follower of Christ and to grow in our various roles as husbands, fathers, brothers, friends, workers and church members. As men, we are called to lead our homes, work and church. This ministry continues to grow and develop on a weekly basis. It is our passion to live out the truth of Exodus 17:12 which says: “When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up-one on one side, one on the other-so that his hands remained steady till sunset.”
The Men's Ministry meets monthly for Men’s Basic Training which is a time of eating together, studying God’s Word, prayer and accountability.
We also take periodic retreats and campouts for prayer, study and fellowship.
This ministry serves God and others in our faith family by being an administrative support to the pastors and staff. Tasks include answering the phone, making phone calls, sending letters and e-mails, making copies or greeting visitors at the front desk in the office. The people we desire for the administrative team should have a heart for service, be organized and care about attention to details. A working knowledge of word processing would be beneficial.
Contact Ken Letson to serve. Depending upon your availability, you can serve in the office during the week for 3-4 hour shifts or you can be called upon for special projects (i.e. mass mailings, phone calls or printing projects).
God has blessed us with these three warehouses to gather together in worship, community and service. We seek to be good stewards of the resources we've been given through taking care of this building to make it a more welcoming place to engage in worship and other events throughout the week hosted by Shelby Crossings.
We are always in need of skilled laborers as well as non-professional servants to provide a vast array of services. We often have regular ongoing projects as well as scheduled workdays throughout the year. This is a great way for families or Small Groups to jump in and serve hands-on.
The purpose of Communications Ministry is to make sure that all information that goes out from Shelby Crossings gets communicated clearly, effectively and creatively. This includes the weekly emails, web sites, mail-outs and announcements. We need writers and editors to help write for blogs, newsletters and other communications projects. Attention to detail would be most beneficial to this ministry. Contact Butch Oglesby to get involved. The time requirements vary and can be flexible depending on the task.
Small Groups are the primary means of becoming a passionate follower of Christ at Shelby Crossings. Small Group leaders and co-leaders play an essential role in the ministry at Shelby Crossings. They are the ministers and shepherds of the church. Becoming a leader or co-leader is not the only way to serve in small groups. We always need new host homes for small groups as well. If you are interested in connecting to a small group, leading, co-leading, or hosting a small group, contact Ken Letson.
The Welcome Ministry
The Welcome Team encourages and serves visitors and regular attendees by making their experience at Shelby Crossings most meaningful. We invite you to consider where you could most effectively serve on a monthly basis in one of the four areas of the Welcome Team: 1) Parking 2) Greeters 3) Refreshment Providers 4) Information Table Hosts. If you are unsure where to start serving the church, the Welcome Team is the easiest place to start and get to know others. Talk with someone at the Information Table on Sunday to serve or contact Ken Letson.
Visual Arts Ministry
We are looking for volunteers to use their artistic and creative gifts to provide graphics, video and photography. We need graphics for the website, newsletters and sermon series. We are also in need of people who will be photographers at Shelby Crossings’ ministry & events. Videographers are needed to capture testimonies and events.
The Audio/Visual Ministry seeks to complement our corporate worship services by presenting the lyrics to our songs, passages of Scripture, announcements and notes for the sermon on the screens. This involves preparing, editing and collecting materials for each element of the service and running them through our MediaShout software. The Audio component involves running the soundboard during the worship band’s practice and during the worship service.
