Disaster Relief

Updated Needs

Birmingham Baptist Association

Updated Needs for Saturday: Here are some needs for Saturday: We need names and addresses of people who need trees removed from yards. These can be homes in Cahaba Heights, Vestavia, Forestdale, Pratt City, Pleasant Grove, McDonald Chapel, or any other places in the area. We cannot remove trees that are on homes, but we can remove from fences. There are several chainsaw crews coming to Birmingham from all around the country Saturday, so let me know. You can reach me at bmorrison@alsbom.org .

Thursday and Friday: We need folks who will go to some areas and approach homeowners and ask if they need some tree and/or debris removal. We are also asking if they would like to have us pray for them. Great ministry opportunity!

Thursday and Friday meet at 9:00 am at Central Park Baptist Church for assignments.

As someone recently said, "With the relief efforts, this isn't a sprint, it's a MARATHON."

We are in this for the long haul. Below are three ways you can help. If you plan on going to serve with one of our partners or any organization and you would like to invite others to join you, please contact us  in advance with the date and time you plan on volunteering. From there, we will notify the church so others can participate with you.

Praying

  • Pray as an individual, family, small group and church for the following:
  • Pray God will be present with all the disaster relief workers as they work long hours.
  • Pray for those who have lost loved ones in the storm. Pray God will give them comfort and strength to grieve the loss of their family members.
  • Pray for those who lost their homes and are now homeless.
  • Pray for the churches that were destroyed or damaged from the storm.
  • Pray for the gospel to go forth in an intentional way. Pray that the gospel would get out at such a time when hearts are softened and more realize there true helplessness.

Sending

Provide Childcare

Help send people out by watching their children so they can go and serve. If you want to sign up to be on a contact list of those who can watch children, please email us with your name, contact number, and how many children you can help watch.

Give financially

We will soon have specific ways to give toward tornado relief that will help towards church member’s families who were affected and towards other relief efforts.
